You know we’re big admirers of Mother Nature and, as a company, we are determined to do our part in reducing single-use waste that is taking up too much space in not only our landfills but also in our oceans.
We all have a part to play to give our planet a bit of a breather which is why we’re so happy to be partnering with Para Kore and Plastic Free July Aotearoa this month with a buy one, give one initiative to help support their amazing mahi (work).
Let me tell you a bit more about Para Kore’s mission. As a not-for-profit charity, they educate and advocate, from a Māori worldview, for a world without waste. Their Pae Tawhiti (vision) is Oranga Taiao, Oranga Marae, Oranga Whānau. They provide free education programmes to support marae, iwi, early childhood centres, kura, events, whare karakia and community organisations to reduce waste. In a nutshell, we think they’re bloody legends.
If you're one of the first 200 people to buy a Hello Cup from our website during Plastic Free July, we’ll donate one on your behalf to Para Kore. We love how they’re working to normalise te ao Māori understandings of ikura (menstrual flow) while also educating on how to reduce waste associated with menstrual products by using reusable alternatives such as menstrual cups.
“The many names and traditional practices associated with our menstrual flow affirms our connection to our natural world, to atua, and to the generations before and after us. Allowing mātauranga ikura to be more accessible to whānau and normalising the use of sustainable ikura products is a kaupapa important to us,” says Hinerangi Rhind-Wiri of Para Kore.
Let’s show Mother Nature some love and support an amazing cause this July,
