New Study Shows Period Power Is A Thing

Instead of hiding under the duvet when we have our period, new research suggests we might be better off hitting the sports field and flaunting our period prowess.

New research conducted by the UCL Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health found that menstruating players reaction times, accuracy and attention to detail were improved when they were on their period.

Those behind the study, which was published in the journal Neuropsychologia, admitted that they were surprised by the results.

“What is surprising is that the participants’ performance was better when they were on their period, which challenges what women, and perhaps society more generally, assume about their abilities at this particular time of the month” said lead author Dr Flaminia Ronca.

Some of the (many) things we love about sustainable period care are that it holds more, is more comfortable and can be worn for longer than tampons and pads - making it the perfect choice for sport.

We’re proud to be the official period care partners for the Royal New Zealand Ballet and Water Polo Australia supporting their athletes with period care that is both reliable and stands the test of time.

RNZB Principal Dancer and Hello Ambassador Ana Gallardo Lobaina recently posted the below photo to her Instagram with the caption: “White tutu, slow promenades to a magical score, plenty of ‘compromising positions’, THAT time of the month, Hello Disc!”

We’d love to know your thoughts. Do you find that your period enhances your performance in any way?
