5 Ways A Hello Cup Helps Save the Planet

Say Hello to your one-stop solution for an eco-friendly period!

Didn’t think your period cup had the power to help protect the planet? Think again! Using a menstrual cup is one of the best sustainable products for a more zero waste lifestyle and an eco-friendly period.

You probably have a number of eco-friendly things in your house, but when you think of sustainable living products, do sustainable period products come to mind?

When you choose to reuse with Hello Cup, you’re choosing one of the most eco-friendly menstrual cups on Earth. What makes the Hello Cup so environmentally friendly? Allow us to elaborate.

1. Hello Cups Are Reusable Long Term

There are different sustainable period products out there, but none that have a lifespan as long as a menstrual cup.

Hello Cups can be used every month for around five years, which is equal to over 2,000 single-use period products like tampons and sanitary pads.. Now that’s an eco-friendly period!

Most tampons and pads take at least 500 years to break down due to the fact they contain microplastics. The first tampon ever used is still somewhere on our planet trying to disintegrate! What’s also horrific is the fact that some ocean life can mistake plastic-ridden tampons for food.

You may have heard of eco-friendly tampons or sanitary pads, but a lot of these products are still only single-use—even if they are biodegradable. Using a menstrual cup eliminates ALL of that trash, so you know your period cycle will be zero waste.

2. Hello Cup Has A Recycling Program—and Discount!

Let us save you some green when you help us save the Earth! Hello Cup’s recycling program aims to make menstruation totally zero waste, keeping even retired period cups out of landfills.

Hello Cups are made of recyclable TPEs TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). They’re durable, comfortable and hypoallergenic. Basically, it’s top-quality stuff—the same as used in hospital equipment such as medical syringes., ood news for your cervix and the environment.

Using something more than once is one of the best ways to be sustainable, but being able to recycle it after? Even better! Once your cup has reached the end of its life, sterilise it well and send it back to us to be recycled! When we receive it, you’ll get a code for 50% off your next cup.

Our recycling program is based in our home of New Zealand, and we’re working on making it easier for our Hello family in the U.S. to recycle their cups.

3. Hello Cup Helps Keep Waste Out of Landfills

To date, Hello Cup has helped keep 200 million pads and tampons from landfills

Every month, tons of trash is produced by pads, tampons, applicators, and packaging. Most people don’t realise traditional pads and tampons contain microplastics that take more than 500 years to fully decompose. Menstrual cups eliminate the need for disposable period products that end up in the garbage month after month.

“Each Hello Cup is the equivalent of over 2,000 tampons or pads,” says Hello Cup co-founder Robyn McLean. “Single-use period products generate an astounding amount of waste and that’s something we need to address.”

Hello Cup now has a goal of keeping 1 billion single-use products from landfills by 2025, and founders Mary Bond and Robyn McLean are confident in achieving it.

4. Hello Cup is A Certified B Corp!

Hello Cup is proud to be a Certified B Corporation! Only businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability receive the B Corp designation.

For Hello Cup, joining a community of B Corp businesses focused on creating a more equitable and sustainable economy is just one way to show how much we care about our customers, employees, and the planet. 5. Hello Cup Kindness Program Has A Big Impact
