While some brands claim to use ‘medical-grade silicone’ in their menstrual discs, unfortunately, the term is not tightly regulated. I had to tell someone

I am 41 years old. Way too old to still be having period accidents in my opinion, but here I am still bleeding through my pants at work and staining my sheets. The first 2-3 days of my flow are a nightmare; I am a very very heavy bleeder and have always had a hard time keeping it under control. I stopped using disposable period products 10 years ago, switching to menstrual cups and period underwear. Even though I loved them and found them to be life changing, I never could count on them to protect me from leaks on my heavy days even when worn together. Every menstrual cup I have tried leaks no matter what I do. I have also tried disposable disks in the past which ended in a literal blood bath. I don't remember where I first saw the Hello disk, but as soon as I saw it and got over the sticker shock, I was in. Lucky for me, my disk arrived in the mail today, on the 3rd day of my period. I took out my cup, which had already leaked and soaked my period panties by noon, and put the Hello disk in. Felt OK inside... can tell it's there but not too bad. Decided to be bold and go all out in my little test - so I just put on a regular pair of underwear, no pad or liner. Its now 6:30 pm, I am dry and fresh as a daisy. No leaks, no stained underwear. This is a miracle. This thing is gonna change my life all over again.

Too big

Too big..it popped out within 5 minutes of wear and the loops were very irritating.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear the disc didn't work out for you. The loops can be worn in different ways so, if you find you can feel them, we'd recommend threading the lower loop through the top one. Alternatively, you can cut the lower loop off completely. If the disc has popped you, it might need to get a more secure 'tuck'. We'd recommend pushing the disc up as high as you can when you insert it and then tucking. Discs sit higher than cups so if you have used a cup in the past, you want to ensure you position it higher. The disc shouldn't pop out if it's too big, however, so feel free to reach out to our team for troubleshooting advice! We're always happy to help x

By FAR the best thing I've ever purchased. I've tried other discs as I love the concept but I've had issues with leaking, them not staying in place, getting them out, but this disk is literally the best. Love this so much I bought a second one!

Love this so much I bought a second one! I have a copper IUD so I have really heavy period days. I still have to empty it after 6 hours of use and I need backup liners. But on normal period days, I wear this without worry. It’s easy to use and clean.

I couldn’t use it

I couldn’t use it. I tried a couple of times but it was never comfortable for me. I managed to insert it but it didn’t feel comfortable to wear. Really disappointed as I had high hopes 😩

Its too firm and too big even for a high cervix.

First time using a disc, would highly recommend. Don’t need to worry about tampons leaking at night or getting irradiation from the pads. Don’t need to be embarrassed about smelly bathroom during the period either. Wish I had started using it earlier.

Life. Changing.

I just finished with my period a day ago and used this the whole time. I've moved from tampons straight to this and my life has been changed. I usually changed my tampon every time I peed because I was quite weird about the pee getting on the tampon string. Don't have to worry about that anymore. I love that I don't have to worry about keeping tampons and pads in all my bags in case I get my period at work or something. I can just keep this and spare undies, and I'm good to go. I LOVE the confidence it gives me to just get on with my life while I'm on my period. No reminders of how much blood I'm losing every time I go to the toilet. Its so satisfying to flush after a pee and there's no blood whatsoever. I usually wear dark colours on my period, but I wore my light yellow skirt to work and she did not let me down. LOVE the auto dump feature (you pull it out and it empties itself). The cleaning is some getting used to as someone who has used disposables since day 1 but it's mad quick. Rinse, wash, dry, done. For the first day or two I found I was spotting because I wasn't pushing it far enough so my tip would be if you think you've pushed it in enough, push till you can't anymore, and it's totally secure. If you're considering, I would definitely recommend it. Never thought I'd say this but I'm so keen for my next "congrats you're not pregnant" to use it again. What. A. Time.

Finally found a disc that works for me!

This disc is amazing!! I feel so relieved because the disc I was using previously leaked no matter what I did. I learned the diameter of the hello disc was better suited for my high cervix and decided to give it a try and it’s been amazing. Absolutely no leakage, best purchase ever!

Stress-free beach day!

Still getting the hang of mess-free emptying/ removal, but it was amazing to spend a few heavy-flow days at the beach swimming around and sunbathing without having to worry about leaking or finding a bathroom every few hours

Love it! I suffer with thrush flare ups with using pads so I took a dive into this and didn't experience any symptoms after my period and was so much more comfortable after!! If you're similar and get irritation with pads, I absolutely recommend getting a disc and making the switch! Even on my first use this was super easy to figure out and had no issues :)

I absolutely love my disc. I just used it on a three day camping trip and it made my life so much easier, not having to worry about leaving a tampon in for too long. I was worried it would be difficult to insert and remove but it was no hassel what so ever. I can’t recommend enough!

I used to use cups but since getting and IUD i had to change to something without suction. The discs are great and easy to use.

Best disc I’ve used

I switched from tampons to disposable discs years ago and that was already a game changer, the only issue was there was always at least a couple times during the week that removal was very difficult, so when I saw that this one was not only reusable but had a removal tab I was convinced to try it. This has been yet another game changer, so much easier to remove and actually a better, more secure fit than my previous discs. Also my only hesitation to switch to reusable was the inconvenience of boiling them every month but the steamy makes that incredibly easy too. I love them.

How to use your Hello Disc

In all cases, fold your Hello Disc™ longways. The tab end should be the last part of the disc to enter your body. Once you feel you can insert the disc no further, use your finger to push the rim up to tuck the disc behind the pubic bone. Don’t be afraid to push up higher, this is what positions the disc correctly and holds it in place

1.Getting started
Sterilize your Hello Disc™ before you first use it. To do this place the disc in a pot of boiling water for 3 minutes.

Pro tip: Because no one likes a charred Hello Disc™ try putting your disc inside a whisk to make sure it doesn't touch the bottom of the pot.
2.Change and Storage
We do not recommend leaving your disc in for more than 12 hours.*

If possible, rinse your Hello Disc™ with cold water after each removal to help prevent stains setting in.

Clean with gentle soap and rinse. If you're not near a tap, it's fine to simply wipe out your disc with toilet paper and reinsert until you can rinse it.

At the end of your cycle sterilize your Hello Disct™ so it's ready next time you need it. Store it in a dry place out of direct sunlight.

3.Inserting your hello disc
Your Hello Disc™ Is designed to be worn several ways.

In all cases, fold your Hello Disc™ longways.

The tab end should be the last part of the disc to enter your body. Direct the top of the disc in, angling it toward your tailbone. Gently push the tab end up until your disc is tucked behind your pubic bone.

How do you use a menstrual disc?

To use a menstrual disc, wash your hands, pinch the disc into a narrow shape, insert it back and down toward your tailbone, then tuck the front rim behind your pubic bone. Once inserted correctly, it should feel comfortable and secure.

How do you remove a menstrual disc?

To remove a menstrual disc, wash your hands, relax your pelvic floor, then hook a finger under the rim or, if you are using the Hello Disc, hook a finger through one of the removal tabs. Gently pull the disc forward and as it is exiting your body, pull the tab upwards so the disc tilts and empties away from your hand.

Can you wear a menstrual disc overnight?

Yes, menstrual discs can be worn overnight for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. On heavier nights, you may prefer to pair your disc with period underwear or a reusable pad for extra peace of mind.
